Three Principles of Leading Christianity Explained
Principle #1 Assume Nothing
We need to set a baseline that the person you are addressing knowing virtually nothing about Jesus, the Bible or the Gospel. In the Western World, many people haven’t grown up with knowledge of these things like they have in the past. Likewise, in many other countries – there has been no exposure of Christianity at all.
Principle #2 Proceed Slowly
In an average class, the percentage of material that people tend to remember is actually quite low. When we learn something progressively over a period of time it is easier for us to retain the information and comprehend it more full.
Proceeding slowly also enables you to develop a relationship and provides more opportunity for dialogue that a quick one-off presentation would give.
Principle #3 Limited Time Commitment
We aren’t asking the participant to commit to something that goes for an entire semester or for multiple hours. We want to keep it short – 1 hour over 6 weeks. It has been found that a person who is not a convinced Christian is far more likely initially to agree to a short term commitment and we hope that they will continue after the study has finished.
